MARRING MY WILLA

Four years ago in Niagra Falls at Tarpen Point I was honored to marry a pretty lady. We hired a preacher and his wife to perform the service and his wife would take pictures of the complete marriage and give (sell) us a DVD thingie with all the pix on it. Both were quiet professional in their work and the preacher, Jeffery L. Grove, was a real delight.

We met them about one thirty on the sidewalk leading down to the falls and after some idol chat and the signing of our marriage license we headed down the path toward the falls.

I will say now that Niagara is a most beautiful place and to get married in front of the falls is a thing to remember. The preacher walked in front and Willa and I followed with his wife in tow. He, the preacher, ambled around consulting with his wife as to the best location for the ''ambiance'' of the occasion and the best lighting for the pictures. As we ambled some of the other people seemed to sense that something special was going to happen and before long, we had a group ''in tow''.

One thing I would like to remind everyone of about Niagara falls is that there are ''roving photographers'' roaming around most of the time. They will take casual pictures of people looking at the falls or simply doing a ''lovers kiss'' and hand out a ''card'' with their name and e mail address where you can go see the pix he has made and buy them as you wish. Before the ceremony started I noticed that we had one of these guys in tow with the other group. Anyhow, Reverend Grove finally found the ''spot'' and started the ceremony. The crowd that we had attracted kind of backed away in a semi circle around us and were very quiet as the ceremony was taking place. Reverend Groves wife was moving about taking digital pix during the ceremony. She was quiet professional in her work. I notice that the ''roving photo'' guy was starting to take pix also. Ms Groves gave him a couple of stern looks and said something under her breath to him and pointed him away from the ceremony. He backed off but did not leave. Ms. Groves was concentrating on her work when the ''roving photo guy'' accidentally stepped on her foot as she was taking a shot of us. I was watching all this over the preachers shoulder and kinda grinning about it. Take it from me, You dont want to make a Preachers Wife mad at you...... She got all over him like cheap shirt. She got in his face and put her finger an inch from his nose and though I could not hear her words you can bet next weeks lunch money she was not nice to this guy. Her final gesture was up the path punctuated by a ''shake of the fist'' in his face and a firm ''finger point'' toward parts unknown. He ducked his head and moved along and she went back to work. She had noticed that I was watching her during the complete episode and she gave me a professional smile and continued to shoot pix.

The ceremony was beautiful. Willa and I cried when we pledged our love to each other for our lifetime. The rest of the crowd was very respectful and at the end of the ceremony he introduced us to the crowd as Mr and Ms C. Richard Cecil. ''Seajay and Willa''..

Everyone applauded, a few took pictures and a Japanese couple came forward to wish us well, long lives and much love, many children...........

Today we celebrated four years of marriage. I asked Willa what she wanted most for her anniversary and she told me to ''go rent a Harley so we could go riding''..... I did and we did and now our ''fannies'' are numb from the vibration of this thing. I christened the bike Teddy Roosevelt because it is one ''Rough Riding Son of a Bunch''.......
As soon as our fannies come back to life and we can walk straight we will continue the celebration...... Right now we just want to sit in a tub of warm water.....
